Opening the Creative Stream
April 29 - May 5, 2018
There is nothing like nurturing seclusion to open the creative stream. This spring we will travel to a speck of an Italian island so far south Tunisia can be seen on a clear day. Known as the “black pearl of the Mediterranean," this rocky land of pumice and passito, calderas, capers and secluded coves is a well-kept secret island. Escape with us for an airy, otherworldly getaway where your writing will be as infused as you are with the island’s richness. During the week there will be opportunities to explore, snorkel, hike and bathe in the island’s luxurious mineral mud baths. And of course, the stargazing is superb.
Combined with morning yoga, guided meditation, locally sourced meals and wine, writing prompts, readings and feedback, the author in you will flourish in this sensuous experience. Add to that the connection that is built within the group of participants and you will be transformed.
We will stay at a local tenuta or estate, in characteristic houses of the island called dammusi. The dammusi have dome-shaped rooftops, designed to collect rainfall and to keep cool. This particularly picturesque tenuta was the filming location for the 2015 erotic thriller starring Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swindon, A Bigger Splash.
We will have the entire estate to ourselves, just us, no other guests. The estate is made up of a large dammuso which includes multiple bedrooms, shared bathrooms, indoor and outdoor living areas as well as a pool. Smaller, detached dammusi dot the rest of the property and are connected by pathways. The cost includes seven days and six nights' accommodation, all workshop fees, transportation to and from the airport in Pantelleria, all meals and wine and optional daily yoga.
Double room with ensuite bathroom: $3850 USD. All rooms are private. Shared options available at a discounted rate.
To secure your place, a $250 USD nonrefundable deposit is necessary.
